Daniel Burns, CFAInvestment Analyst/Associate Portfolio Manager

Dan is responsible for identifying new investment opportunities as well as conducting quantitative and qualitative analysis for Avalon's investment committee. Dan also monitors top holdings on an ongoing basis.

Dan worked in the financial services industry for 13 years, starting his career in public accounting in 1999. He was certified as a CPA in 2005, while working with Deloitte & Touche in San Francisco, where he provided tax advice to Fortune 500 corporations, private equity groups, hedge funds and high net worth individuals. He transitioned to investment management in 2008, as an equity research analyst with Beekman Capital, an institutional growth stock manager where he was responsible for coverage of the Financial, Healthcare and Basic Material sectors. Dan holds an MBA with a concentration in Finance from the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas in Austin as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Spanish from the University of California - Davis. He has earned the CFA designation.
